I walked it in 2004 after I had walked the main French route, it was quiet and deserted, there were not many hostels but it was great; also it had a completely different feels to it compared to the Camino.

The Camino de Santiago Frances through Aragon, also known as the Camino Aragonés is a pilgrimage trail once traveled by those who would come from the south of France, like the Italians. This route goes through the Toulousian way and crosses the Pyrenees at the Somport pass - on the border between Spain and France. This pass is nowadays still considered the starting point of the Camino Aragones.

The Camino Aragones is an alternative to the Camino Frances between Somport and Puente del Rei. The total length of the Camino Aragones is 165 kilometers. Thus it can be completed in six or seven days, depending on the pilgrim's pace. Compared to the Camino Frances, fewer facilities will be here and fewer towns and villages to cross.

At the other end, the Camino Aragonés joins with the Camino Frances in the village of Obanos; just before Puente la Reina and 20 km south of Pamplona.
