Acme is more expensive across the board . Not even close. ACME has trended to be higher than Shoprite for general non-sale stuff. At times, if both stores have things on sale, Shoprite usually tended to have lower prices as well. The only thing ACME has going for it is later hours, and closer proximity to my apartment.

I've never heard of Acme, but as someone who used to shop at Giant, Food Lion, and ShopRite, before I joined the military and got whisked away from MD, your best bet is this: ShopRite for all of your "not on sale" items. Even better if you have a coupon, as they let you double stack them (6 years ago anyhow)

Shoprite has friendlier people, some of their selection is lacking, and their prices are better. The store currently seems less well maintained. Acme is in the middle of the road for prices. This is the place to go customer watching though. I rarely get to Aldi. It reminds me of a Costco Lite due to their low prices and targeted selection.
