With the Mint 2, I had faces floating in black. With the old flashbar, i got the walls behind them as well. There are different connectors for that flash plug. Make sure you get matching ones if you get an old school electric one. I'm in the same boat as you, bfc resto early model sx-70 with mint flashbar 2. I've had some great results.
