The biggest difference between the DT 700 PRO X and older DT 770 PRO is the impedance. The PRO X is made for portable use with its 48Ω impedance, relative to the DT 770 PRO series' 32Ω, 80Ω, and 250Ω varieties. With not a lot of swivel or articulating joints, this is about as much as the headset will stretch.

Stacked the DT 480 pads from my other DT 480 with this one and added some felt cutouts in a double layer, with a bit of foam from a K612 foam ring over the square opening. Excellent sub-bass extension, notably better soundstage size, and helps control that resonance and unevenness the headphone can have in stock form.
